How great is it to run in unknown territory and discover new cities while running.
No, I wouldn’t really suggest touring the world like that, jogging instead of walking city streets or driving in the country, just to add that to possible ways of seeing new places.

I used to travel a lot for work, in and out of the country, and the most exciting thing for me, was planing where I was going to run, and when.

It is always more challenging to keep up one routine when the rest of your routine is broken (by a trip, for example) So I would fantasise during the day, on the way to my destination what the motel or hotel would be like and if the area it was in was friendly enough for me to take off on my own, for a friendly neighbourhood jog.

Where I live there is no snow, and the cold is not really bitter, so a few years ago when I landed up in Minneapolis with no coat in October (I think of October as barely fall) I was really surprised to find the first order of business was visiting the local Target to get myself a coat and sweater…

Anyway, on that trip, I was staying with family that live along the banks of the river, and I could not wait to get out there and join the local runners puffing along with visible breath from the cold.
I completely understand what TxTriSkatemom, who is originally a Texan, found so wonderful about running in Boston…Yay for smoke-like cold breath!Cool
