It's timed - you run laps on a track for 60 minutes & then it depends who did the most distance. I've never done an event of this format before but it sounds interesting.

Well, rest assured they don't always feel fun for me either. But if nothing else, the post race high is always worth the effort. Thanks, Karen.

Thanks, Cam. Yeah - I'm very relieved that I'm somehow able to make it work. It's a nice feature that races are often in the weekend. I missed out a bit on the partying this weekend but y'know what, I don't mind.

Thanks, Phil! It does feel like 'returning' although I actually haven't been 'gone' all that long.

Did an 18.7km race on Sunday between two villages in rolling hills of the agricultural area north-west of Toulouse. Instead of the eternal T-shirt, we all got a box containing a bottle of the local wine, a goats cheese (there was an aid station in the farmyard where it was produced), some garlic, a jar of locally made farmhouse jam and walnuts.

Lucky you - that sounds like the best goody-bag ever. I don't know how that would go over with everyone in the US, but I'd love it.

In other words, it´s like a Cooper´s test but it lasts five times longer

Anyway, 30 (or more) laps on a track doesn´t seem like fun to me. Not even if there´s a brass band or African drummers or whatever air of festivity the organizers can summon up - and no matter how much traffic there is to pass (or to let pass)...

FWIW the most unusual event I know of was a 30-minute race for 2-man teams: while one run a half-lap, the other jogged across the field to take up.
