...

David (in Toronto, that is),

Congratulations and it was pretty neat to read a different view of the same race.

The reason why I quoted the above paragraph, is it must be nice not to have to work so hard to meet your goal (and mine). Cool.

As for the entertainment before a race? I don't think I've ever been to one that had much before the race.

To both Davids: two very good reports, and how funny the two of you finished so close together. Well done, congrats on qualifying for Boston and take some well deserved rest.

Thanks Bernard. I'll probably use that as my time for Boston, unless something even better happens in the meantime (unlikely - I cannot train through the summer, too many other things to do). But it will be cool to be in a semi-decent corral to start!

the context at the time. A bit spaced out myself. Anyways, I know who to look for at future events in the area. Maybe even the CIM in the fall, but probably only the half.

It was funny to see we finished right behind one another, but with 1:21 between us, I had no idea where you were!

Feeling very recovered for just two days after. A bit tight in the calves, and the feet are 'interesting', but otherwise okay. How about you?

Thanks Roger, but I wouldn't say it wasn't work. I did about a 20 week build up for Boston, and just tried to leverage that. The tough part was resetting goals, and I didn't have the discipline for that. My original thought was to try to take the existing endurance level, and just push the speed for 5 weeks between races by running a mix of tempo runs and 6 * 1mi intervals.

Oh man. I've just started my marathon training and tonight we did 2, mind you TWO 1 mile intervals at 5k pace with a 400 jog between and I couldn't do any more after that.

I then left and met up with some other runners elsewhere and found out more about the race I've volunteered to help on.

It was funny, one of the girls that is going to help after she runs the race said she was going to take it nice and slow I believed her until someone pointed out: 'She can't take it slow.' I then said: 'Oh ya, she has a one speed transmission... fast.'

Thanks, Roger

I feel great, actually I've been celebrating for a few days now... hence the 1:30 am post.

Back to running tomorrow. The 48-hour vacation is over.

Isn't there supposed to be a 6-8 week recovery period after a marathon?
