I need someone's advice. I entered the NY marathon last year but did not have enough motivation to run so I cancelled my entry. I have a guaranteed entry this year but once again, lacked the motivitaion to train. I've been running for 3 years and the furthest I've run was about 10 miles. I really want to run it this year.
My question is-should I try to run the marathon untrained? I'm not going to be doing it for time; just for fun. Am I the only crazy one that would do this? Will I be the last one to finish or are there more out there who just run it for fun?
This question has been bugging me and I have to beat the Nov. 1 deadline if I want guranteed entry next year. Fellow runners

Run the marathon - take it easy, and have fun - the 2.5 MILLION spectators will give you plenty of energy. Many people take 6+hrs to finish NY - check last years results.
It's going to be AMAZING!! I can't wait.

How much do you run? Do you care if you are walking it in after dark and the course closes?

Go for it - and just walk/run. You probably won't be last and I'm sure it'll be a great experience. J
