I posted to this group for concern of kneecap pain. Well, I had just come back to running only for the last several weeks. Recently have avoided a half mile strip of concrete and now run only on track clay. I have no pain while running or after. Although a bit sometimes. Someone referred me to z coil shoes. I read the testimonials. It sounds like a effective product. But I am kinda self conscious. People would probably look at me odd. And I don't want to look like a bit of a cheat while using one in a marathon (one testimonial claimed good for marathons). Although I think just about all of us could us something to ease our joints for 26 miles. I think I would be the only one out there with them.

Glucosamine is part of my daily regimen and has been effective (I'm not sold on the chondroitin additive though). I have had the medial miniscus in my right knee cleaned and trimed a few times so I have a pretty good base from which to judge the effectiveness of these products for myself. But I don't understand the 'knox gel' comment. How does knox gel compliment these other products in restoration or defense of the cartilage in our joints? I thought it was pretty much just a source of protein.

I believe gelatin (including Knox gel) and jello have callogen(?) (or something) in there that is a component of tendons. I think Knox gel has some other stuff in there also. I saw it next to the jello in the store, but opted for the jello.

This was from a comment on another group to the effect of using vitamn C, glycine, lysine, and gelatin since they supply the main components of tendon tissue.
