2 weeks ago, after increasing my mileage over a short period of time I got myself a hurting fibula. It's a spot right over the left ankle. It hurts when I press it, and also when I'm walking. I didn't twist my ankle or anything. I had x-rays done on my lower leg. It didn't show anything at all. Nothing's swollen or visible on my leg, either.

The surgeon that had taken the x-rays told me I could start running again. He didn't have any explanation for the pain, either, so I'm not so sure about what to do.

Any suggestions?

An x-ray does not rule out a stress fracture, FYI. To rule that out you'll need a bone scan or an MRI... So your doctor's advice that you can start running again might be in error... Then again, I'm not a doctor either...

Pain means injury. Go easy until it heals. If it's warm to the touch apply ice. Otherwise, apply heat.
