So, is anyone out there planning on running the Brooklyn Half Marathon. It's coming up March 10th. It starts in Coney Island and ends at Prospect Park, Brooklyn. See http://www.nyrrc.org/race/2001/r0310x00.htm for more info.

For the nyc.bicycles readers: I know this is not about cycling, but there is no nyc.running.

There was a little blurb on it in Runner's World this month about it being someone's favorite race. It mentioned something about banging boardwalks and a 3(?) mile loop in the park. Although I signed up for the bus ride, I'm thinking the subway might be a better choice. Anyone out there knows how close the nearest station is?

As I remember, it was only a block or two. The NYRRC site might have more specific instructions. I'd be more worried about trusting the subway to get me there at 8 am on a weekend.

I also will be taking the subway out there.

From the nyrrc website:

Travel Directions: Please allow ample time for your commute. Travel time from mid-Manhattan is approximately two hours. To get to the Start of the Brooklyn Half-Marathon by subway, take the D train to the West Eighth Street/New York Aquarium stop. Then head east to the Start on the boardwalk at West Fifth Street. (You can connect to the D train from the 2/3 and 4 trains at Atlantic Avenue.) Or, take the B train to the Stillwell Avenue/Coney Island stop. Head south to Surf Avenue, then east to the boardwalk and the Start at West Fifth Street. By car, take the BQE (278) to the Belt Parkway. Use exit 7S to Ocean Parkway. Follow the signs to the Aquarium near the Start at the boardwalk and West Fifth Street.

Ralph, I think you need to start another newsgroup - nyc.triathaletes.

Thanks for the directions. Now, the nyrrc bus is looking like a better option.
