This is a call for all of you running mommas. The Marathon Mama needs you.
She has quite her job in order to write a book on the growing “Force to be reckoned with” in here own words of running mothers. If you are a mother who runs, or a father with a wife who is a mother who runs, (and runs can be anything as long as its regular or over a period of time) hop over and read that post of hers. Maybe you will find yourself willing to participate in this interesting project of hers.

Hello my name is Shelly, I am a mother of 2, megan 5 and mitchell 8, I just turned 44 November 8, I began running when megan turned 3, I put her in a preschool program 3 mornings a week. I would go to the gym and run, I ran a few relay races on a team, Cabot Trail in Cape Breton, and Rum Runners in Halifax to Lunenburg. I met a woman who also is a mother of 3 boys, 2, 5 and 8 year old. She has run several marathons, such as boston being one and now heading to Hawii marathon after her and husband raising over $8,000 of donations for Team Diabetes. She and I become a very good friends and she helped me on a 12 week training program for my first marathon that I just completed Thanks giving weekend, in Wolfville Nova Scotia. I completed the marathone 4hr 18 mins. The pain was good and bad, yes I will not lie it hurt from 27k on….lol. but when I saw the finish line, the pain completely disappeared and I sprinted passing 2 runners to the finish line….. I felt so high at that point, one would think I was. My family was at the finish line with smiles on their faces, that was wonderful, my friend ran the last 2k in with me, since she qualified for boston again, she finished eariler than me, but had the strength to bring me in. God love her for that. I was back running the next week. I loved every minute of it and looking forward to another one. Running has giving a new look in life. The feeling of completing a race, it is a wonderful feeling, if a person can do it, do it, because it’s totally worth the pain and sweat and tears that goes with the training and the day of the race.
Thanks for the comment Shelly - your description of the pain disappearing as soon as your saw the finishing line reminded me of giving birth…
